No. When your phone isn't connected, the pen stores up to 1,000 pages. Import them next time you open the app. Handwriting-to-text and AI need an internet connection.

Yes. Use the web app at web.xnote.ai in Chrome, Edge or Opera, including pairing the pen.

Several owners with messy handwriting or cursive say it reads theirs well (see reviews), and you can edit any converted text in the app. Choose your writing language when you set up.

Tell the app which notebook you're writing in by setting it as primary. This matters when you write in a Mini or Large notebook, or use two notebooks of the same size, because same-size notebooks share a page pattern.

A photo captures the page after you're done. XNote captures every stroke as you write, with nothing to scan, and turns your pages into searchable text, tasks and events. If you only write a page now and then, a photo may be all you need.

You write in real ink on paper, not on glass, and no notifications pop up on the page. The set costs $199; an iPad with Apple Pencil starts at $528. Handwriting-to-text is included with no subscription. If you want to draw in color or mark up PDFs, a tablet is the better tool.

No. The pen reads a tiny pattern printed on XNote notebooks and on pages you print from the XNote app. On ordinary paper, it's just a pen.

No. Start a fresh notebook, or print new pages from the app.

You need a laser printer, 600 dpi or better. Inkjet prints can't be read by the pen. Print from a computer at 100% (actual size) on plain white paper. Paper size: US Letter or A4, whichever you choose in the app.

No. Print from the XNote app, so every sheet gets its own pattern and page number.

Yes. You can download any past batch again from the app.

No. They’re included with XNote Write: you make them in the XNote app and print them on your own laser printer.

The pen takes standard D1 ballpoint refills. XNote refills are $12 for a pack of 5 (black, 0.8 mm).

Ink is permanent, like any pen, but you can edit the converted text in the app.

Yes, as ink: drawings are saved on the digital page as you drew them and export as a PDF or image. Text recognition is for writing, and handwritten tables can be converted to a spreadsheet.

Yes. AI chat with your notes is included with XNote Write.

Time you record with the XNote app, audio files you upload, and meetings the meeting recorder records. Handwriting never uses minutes.

Not to try it. The Free plan includes 150 audio minutes a month for recording with the XNote app. The meeting recorder uses audio minutes too; if you record meetings often, a plan adds more. If you run out, you can still record, but transcription pauses and the meeting recorder stops joining meetings until your minutes renew or you add more.

No. Minutes renew each billing month and don't roll over.

Yes, anytime. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, and your notes stay in your account.

After you pair the pen, the app offers XNote Pro. You can close it; everything included with XNote Write keeps working.

We'll email you a redeem code. In the XNote app or at web.xnote.ai, go to Settings → Subscription → Redeem code. Codes expire after one year.

Yes. Extra audio minutes are available in the app, in packs of 600, 3,000 or 6,000 minutes.

No. The pen has no microphone. To record, use the XNote app on your phone, send the meeting recorder to a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams meeting, or use XNote Voice for phone calls.

XNote Voice is a standalone recorder that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone and records your calls. No pen needed.

Recording laws differ by state and country. Tell everyone on the call that you're recording, and get their consent where the law requires it.

XNote Write ships free in the US. Other US orders ship free over $65, and international orders over $150. International orders may owe duties and VAT on delivery.

Request a return within 30 days of receiving it for a full refund. Send the set back complete. Try the pen and write in the notebook; using the notebook does not affect your refund. The pen has a 12-month warranty.
